Four new white lion cubs at Belgrade's ZOO
The Belgrade ZOO will remember this Easter for a very long time. During the holidays, a white lioness gave a birth to four cubs who have already become a real attraction.
The lioness Masha has not rejected her cubs, which is a precedent. White lions are rare forms of the subspecies African Lion and they mainly live in nature reserves in South Africa. They owe their coloring to a recessive gene.
The Belgrade ZOO now has ten white lions. This ZOO has become known worldwide as a natural reproduction center for white lions. Belgrade got the first such lions in 2005 and became the first ZOO in Europe to have these rare animals.
