Joint Toll Collection in Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania to Start

The joint electronic toll collection system, using a single tag for traveling through North Macedonia, Albania and Serbia, has been successfully tested and is ready for use from Saturday, July 1, announced the road companies of North Macedonia and Serbia.

The media report that the way the system will function is that vehicles from those three countries will be able to pay the road toll using the devices they already have in North Macedonia, Serbia and Albania without having to stop or purchase an additional device or card.

The project was announced in September 2021 within the Open Balkans initiative.

There are efforts to also introduce the system in Croatia, and there are also negotiations with Greece.
