The Danube Corridor, that is, the fast route Pozarevac-Veliko Gradiste-Golubac, 68 kilometers long, will be completed at the end of 2025, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated today.

– The opening of the fast route in two and a half years will mean a road to the future for the entire eastern Serbia. You will have a finished fast route and we will travel from Belgrade to Veliko Gradiste in an hour and 10 minutes and to Golubac in an hour and 20 minutes – Vucic said while visiting the site.

He visited the site together with the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, the ambassador of China to Serbia, Chen Bo, and the director of the Corridors of Serbia, Aleksandar Antic, as well as representatives of the local self-governments.

Vucic pointed out that, thanks to that fast route, the entire eastern Serbia will gain value.

He added that the plan was to also agree the continuation of the fast route from Donji Milanovac to Brza Palanka, whereby that part of eastern Serbia would be connected with Belgrade and Novi Sad.

The ambassador of China to Serbia, Chen Bo, said that the project was going as planned and that it would be completed within the deadline.

– The new traffic route will bring new possibilities for tourism and economic growth of Serbia – she said.

The Danube Corridor will have two lanes in each direction and 52 bridges and overpasses, five interchanges and 16 roundabouts, and it is designed for speeds up to 100 km/h.

The construction started in November 2021, and over EUR 330 million will be invested in the fast route.

The contractor is the Chinese Shandong Hi-Speed Group and the subcontractors are from Serbia.

The fast route will connect Pozarevac, Golubac and Veliko Gradiste with Corridor 10.
