Green Market “Stari Merkator” in New Belgrade to Be Reconstructed – Underground Level to Become Garage (PHOTO)

The Secretariat for Urban Planning and Construction Affairs has advertised the public presentation of the urban project for the reconstruction of the Merkator green market in New Belgrade.

The urban project was prepared at the request of the investor, the PUE Gradske Pijace, and to the end, as said, of changing the features of the sales space on the underground level into a garage.

The plan is to change the purpose of the underground level and to reconstruct the façade elements in line with the new purpose. The remaining parts of the facility (the ground floor and the gallery) are to be kept as they are.

The preliminary design for a total of 2,100 m2 of the gross developed floor area of the sales space plans 48 parking spaces.

The demolition of a part of the existing partition walls and the removal of a part of the de-leveled floor in the section of the basement where the garage space is planned are also envisaged. In order the realize the necessary minimum number of openings for the open garage, the plan is to demolish a part of the exterior walls.

Road entrance and exit from the garage space is planned toward Palmira Toljatija Street. Evacuation exists toward Aleksinackih Rudara Street and Mihajla Pupina Blvd are planned as well.

By adapting an area of 1,436.65 m2, the plan is to establish 48 parking spaces with dimensions of 2.5 x 5 m, taking up 599.47 m2 in total, and three parking spaces for the disabled, with dimensions of 3.7 x 5 m, with a total area of 55.5 m2. The communication takes up an area of 781.69 m2.

The request for confirming the urban project was submitted by YUGO BIRO, on behalf of the investor, the PUE Gradske Pijace. The public presentation will last until July 26.
