In the first five months, the export of ICT services from Serbia has reached EUR 1.3 billion, 41% more than last year, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today.

She stated that in the last seven years, the sector of information and communication technologies (ICT) has become one of the three key engines of the development of the Serbian economy.

At the presentation of the "Digital Europe" program in the Science and Technology Park in Belgrade, Brnabic reminded that last year was a record year in this sense with ICT exports of EUR 2.7 billion, noting that Serbia practically became a full member of the European Union in this sphere.

- With the signing of the Agreement on participation in the "Digital Europe" program in late June in Brussels and with today's day when we mark the first call for our companies, scientific institutes, faculties, teams of micro, small and medium enterprises to come forward with their projects for the "Digital Europe" program funding. In this sphere we have practically become a full member of the EU - Brnabic said, as per the Government website.

She added that all our teams, companies, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, institutes, when they apply with their projects to the "Digital Europe" program, will have the same opportunity as any other company, faculty and scientific institute.

She pointed out that Serbia has a good chance to use a significant part of the EUR 7.5 billion allocated by the EU within the program by 2027.

My message is that those interested should closely monitor the calls and apply. That can give us an additional chance for accelerated development," said the Prime Minister.

The Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Mihailo Jovanovic, announced that funds will be provided for the areas of artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, advanced digital skills, and the development and application of digital capacities and interoperability.

The program, which will last until 2027, has been initiated by the European Commission as a response to the need for economic recovery of the European continent, Jovanovic reiterated.

The minister explained that entities and individuals based in Serbia will be able to apply for project financing, and the program foresees the participation of non-profit associations, companies, non-governmental organizations, with a special focus on small and medium-sized enterprises.

He added that the academic community, research organizations, accelerators and startups will also have the opportunity to apply for the program.

Also, Jovanovic said that the financial contribution varies on the call for project submission proposals, and that it can cover up to 100% of the costs.
