The first solar photovoltaic power plant of 5.06 kW has been put in operation in the technical school Mihajlo Pupin in Kula. This plant will be producing and supplying electric power to consumers in the cabinet of professor Ivan Marjan who designed this project.

Construction of the solar power plant was financed by the Government of Spain through the Energy Efficiency Agency of the Republic of Serbia.

- Our task is to support such projects, as well as to attract investors and persuade them that investments in renewable sources of energy represent the future - Provincial Secretary for Energy and Mineral Raw Materials Radosav Strikovic pointed out at the opening ceremony.

- This technology is expensive for Serbia and should be introduced gradually, but we also have other renewable energy sources, one of which is biomass, and that is where I see our chance - Rastislav Kragic, an expert adviser at the Energy Efficiency Agency, said in a statement for RTV (the Broadcasting Corporation of Vojvodina).

The energy efficiency group within the technical school Mihajlo Pupin announced another similar project for the next year: construction of a wind generator.
