University of Belgrade Improves Position on Shanghai List, Best in the Region

The University of Belgrade has improved its position on the Shanghai List of the world’s best universities.

On the ranking list for 2023, just published, it has placed between the 301st and the 400th spots, whereas last year, it was in the group of higher education institutions between the 401st and the 500th spots.

Of the Serbian universities, the Shanghai List also features the University of Novi Sad, which has kept its last year place between the 901st and 1,000th places.

Regarding the universities from the region, this year’s surprise is that the University of Ljubljana is no longer in the top 500, now placing between the 601st and 700th spots.

The University of Zagreb has kept its last year’s position between the 401st and 500th places.

The list is topped for 21 years in a row by Harvard University, followed by Stanford and MIT.

The group of the 10 best universities also features Cambridge (4th), Berkley (5th), Princeton (6th), Oxford (7th), Columbia (8th), Caltech (9th) and Chicago (10th).
