The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has stated that fuel prices in Serbia are more expensive compared to the region because we have the highest excise taxes on oil.

– Why? Because, since we’re talking about it, in which of these countries is the price of electrical energy lower? Nowhere. It is the lowest in Serbia. Where is the price of bread the lowest? Well, nowhere. Look at the prices of milk, eggs and everything else. So, you have to pick something, the state has to have its revenues – Vucic said.

He added that, if the input taxes continue growing within a day, the state will look into what it can do.

– It will be difficult for us, but we will have to see what the state can do, we are restricted by the IMF there, we’ll see what we can do about it and how – Vucic said.
