Bulgarian Tourists Returning to Belgrade – Twice as Many Visitors This Year Compared to Last One

This year, Belgrade was visited by twice as many tourists from Bulgaria compared to last year. They also realized twice as many overnight stays, and this record will be surpassed judging by the interest of the Bulgarian tourism agencies in the Serbian capital at the recently finished promotion of the Tourism Organization of Belgrade in Sofia, the TOB announced.

As said, there is a remarkably high interest in the New Year’s holidays in Belgrade among tourists from Bulgaria, so the focus of the promotion of the TOB was precisely on the “Belgrade Winter”, which begins on December 8 and ends on January 8, and includes the New Year’s celebration in front of the National Assembly of Serbia and fireworks from the Belgrade Tower.

– We are glad to see the great interest from Bulgarian tour operators in New Year’s holidays in Belgrade, and the construction of the highway which connects Belgrade and Sofia has contributed a lot to it too, as it takes only four hours to travel between our two cities. I believe that, this year as well, Bulgarian tourists will be among the most numerous ones and that we will break the record – said Slobodan Unkovic, the deputy director of the TOB.

The promotion of Belgrade in Sofia was joined by the tourism organizations of Nis, Sokobanja and Dimitrovgrad, as well as numerous hotels and spa centers from Serbia.

In the first nine months, Belgrade was visited by 29,342 tourists from Bulgaria, which is 48% more than last year. Bulgarian tourists realized 49,815 overnight stays in the first nine months of this year, which is twice as many as in 2022.
