The “New Zlatibor” project, that is, the project of new features at the Tornik peak, as well as the project of a new route of the gondola from the Tornik peak to Pribojska Banja, has been presented.

– We have mostly used the experiences of the Scandinavian countries, because they are very practical. Our development strategy, which was done in 2004, was prepared with our expert help by the Norwegian institute Niva and they asked us at the time which form of tourism we wanted to opt for in our strategic plans, and we opted for mass tourism, because, in each job, the profit and the income lie precisely in the mass approach. There are jobs in which you can keep the ethno tourism, protect the environment and keep that mountain style of construction, but the question is whether the state has enough money to develop that kind of tourism. As there wasn’t money at the time, we opted for mass tourism – said the president of the Municipality of Cajetina, Milan Stamatovic, and added:

– We have opted for this model, we have completed one phase, now another one is to follow, the construction of a new Zlatibor, the construction of golf courses, the construction of sports courts, some entertainment features that modern tourists are looking for. We will try to do things in the general interest, to help our state, to help the local populace, here where we live and where we get support for everything we do.

On behalf of the host, the attendees were also addressed by Bojana Bozanic, the director of the PE Gold Gondola, who talked about the idea of the “Gold City” project on Zlatibor, whose realization is also to start soon.

The project “Tornik Tomorrow: Conceptual Horizons – Golden Pine”, which will be realized on the Tornik peak, was presented by its author, Snezana Vesnic, Ph.D., a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade. The project is based on the mythological image of the golden pine “which is an elusive symbol of perfection.”

– All the other things that Zlatibor and Tornik are known for in Europe have been shaped into four architectural, that is, natural elements, fire, air, water and earth. That way, four ambient units have been designed, and the backbone of the project is the 139 meters tall tower, which is an interpretation of Zlatibor’s specific pine – pointed out architect Vesnic.

The special characteristics of the new route and the technical solutions that will be implemented on the gondola between Tornik and Pribojska Banja were presented by Franz Furlani, the representative of Leitner for Western Balkans, who emphasized that “gondolas are being built more and more, they are increasingly used for tourism and city traffic.”

– Gondolas are electric and everything about them is clean and ecological, there is no air pollution and that is why they are increasingly used for the transport of people. The project is very ambitious, that’s what’s in demand today, and Zlatibor is heading in the right direction – Furlani concluded.
