Ledo to Move Dough Line from Croatia to Frikom – Zagorski Strukli Dish to Be Produced in Serbia

Ledo’s dough production line is moving from Zagreb to a new location in Serbia, more precisely, to Frikom, whose owner is also Nomad Foods, and the employees at the dough factory in Zagreb have been offered to move to the ice cream production facilities.

The reason for the moving of the dough production line, as reported before, is the lack of space for four machines, worth EUR 4 million, which will produce the King brand of ice cream. They will be installed next year precisely in the spot where the dough line is located, Ledo said for the Hina news agency.

When asked how many employees there are at the Zagreb dough factory, they say that they currently employ 45 people at that facility, the Jutarnji list daily reports. Despite the expansion of the ice cream production facility, it is in the company’s interest to keep the workers at the dough factory, if they accept the new jobs.

– We are talking to each employee individually about their desires and plans and we hope and believe that a majority of them will decide to continue working in Ledo on ice cream production jobs – Ledo said in response to Hina’s question.

The president of the Trade Union PPDIV, Denis Paradis, has confirmed for Hina that the Management has obligated to keep all the former employees of the dough factory, but that it is now offering lower salaries, that is, lower coefficients and less complex jobs, to a large majority of them.

– It is not alright to treat workers with years of service that way – Paradis points out.

He doesn’t dispute the right of the owner to make the business decision to move part of the production to Frikom, but, as he says, it is slightly comical to him that the Zagorski Strukli dish is to be produced in Serbia.
