Sapic: Boring of First Subway Line to Begin Next Year

The boring on the route of the first subway line, for which a full land expropriation was done, will begin next year, Aleksandar Sapic, the president of the Temporary Organ of Belgrade, assures the public. As he said for Pink, and as reported by Beoinfo, the construction of a machine, popularly known as a “mole”, for the boring of that line has been commissioned.

– That “mole” is built with a purpose for a certain area, and ours will be completed next year, when the boring is to begin as well. Certain stations on the first subway line are already being arranged. Until the subway is built, we are expanding the streets wherever possible, such as Visnjicka Street, Zorana Djindjica Blvd and Tosin Bunar Street. It is important to ensure a higher traffic flow and an independent edge lane for public transport vehicles. However, it will all essentially change only when the subway is built – said Sapic, who once again announced the purchase of 300 new buses and 50 trams for the next year.
