State Company EXPO 2027 Founded

The Republic of Serbia has founded the new company EXPO 2027 and included it in the official company register, N1 reports. The company is registered for the activity of “organizing meetings and fairs”, the founding capital is RSD 1 million, and the founder and the only owner is the Republic of Serbia.

The director of the company EXPO 2027 is Dusan Borovcanin, who worked on the preparation of the candidacy of Belgrade and Serbia for Specialized Expo 2027. The new company, according to the decision of the Government about the founding of this business entity, will prepare, organize and hold the specialized exhibition EXPO Belgrade 2027, develop and promote the specialized exhibition, implement the measures necessary for the coordination and the organization of the exhibition.

The “task list” also features attracting potential investments in the projects which will be realized in the space of the specialized exhibition EXPO Belgrade 2027, as well as the organization of congresses, exhibitions and fairs in the country and abroad, related to the organization of the specialized exhibition EXPO Belgrade 2027.

In the next three years, RSD 22.6 billion will be set aside for the realization of the Belgrade EXPO 2027 project each year, according to the 2024 budget. That amounts to a total of RSD 67.8 billion, that is, around EUR 578 million. The state will realize this project in line with a special law – lex specialis, which bypasses the public procurement procedure.

This lex specialis – The Law on Special Procedures for the Purpose of the Realization of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO Belgrade 2027 – envisages the realization of the Belgrade EXPO 2027 project in phases.

From next year’s budget, RSD 22.6 billion is meant for that purpose in 2024, 2025 and 2026, and that’s only through the Ministry of Finance (there are also additional costs, such as RSD 1 billion in subsidies to private companies through the Ministry of Economy etc.).
