The first phase of the construction of the aqua park has begun in Bor, and after the tendering procedure had been carried out, the job was awarded to the group of bidders consisting of Alex Engineering & Construction from Belgrade and Vostok Investments from Subotica. The value of the agreement is RSD 634.2 million (around EUR 5.4 million).

In the first phase, the plan is to design, reconstruct and extend the access flat area along Zeleni Blvd, along with the demolition of the existing fountain and the construction of a new one. Furthermore, the ticket booth, the sanitary rooms and the bar with the balcony (capacity expansion) are to be reconstructed, as are the existing pools with the beach.

Additional purchase spots are planned within the ticket booth, as is a larger number of clothes-changing stalls and lockers where the visitors can keep their belongings.

The existing pools and the beach flat area surrounding these pools, according to the tendering documentation, have been neglected. The pool with the water slide should get a whole new water slide tower with five slides, and the Olympic-sized pool should be adapted to the purpose of the organization of swimming and water polo tournaments.

The construction of the entire aqua park complex has five phases, and building permits, according to Istmedia, have so far been issued for two phases.

The second phase of the construction of the aqua park entails the construction of a facility with fast food restaurants, a facility for the employees at the complex, a pool with family water slides, kamikaze attractions and a recreational pool, as well as public toilets and shower stalls. A massage (vitality) pool and a recreational pool will be built in this phase, and in the third phase, the aqua park will also get a pool with waves.

In the fourth phase, the plan is to build a children’s aqua tower pool and splash area, and in the final phase, the existing restaurant is to be reconstructed, the restaurant balcony with a capacity of around 200 tables is to be extended and an outdoor children’s playground is to be built.

The head of Bor, Aleksandar Milikic, announced last March on Facebook that, in the next three years, Bor should get an aqua park with 7 pools on a surface of around 2.5 ha within the Sports Center “Bobana Momcilovic Velickovic”. At the time, he also published the rendered images showing the look of the future aqua park.
