Tender for Reconstruction of Karadjordje Stadium Announced for March 12, Works Estimated at EUR 1 Million

The City Administration for Property and Property-Legal Relations Novi Sad has announced the opening of the tender for the reconstruction of the Karadjordje Stadium in Novi Sad for March 12.

The estimated value of the job is around RSD 120.5 million (around EUR 1 million), according to the prior notice that was published yesterday.

Let us remind that it had been announced that the reconstruction of Karadjordje would begin on October 1, 2023, but that at the end of September, the president of FK Vojvodina, Dragan Zbiljic, stated that it would not happen after all.

He said at the time that the beginning of the reconstruction works was being moved for administrative reasons.

– The works were planned from October 1, and by then, the tenders for the contractor will only be opened, so the whole procedure takes a month, a month and a half, after which the agreement is to be signed, most probably in December. From January, we will see what happens, but we don’t want to specify the dates – Zbiljic said at the time, as announced on the website of FK Vojvodina.

As he pointed out, “what we know for sure is that we have RSD 150 million secured from the City of Novi Sad and 150 from the Football Association of Serbia.”

– It is important to point out that the reconstruction outside the field, on the stadium, costs RSD 540 million. We lack around RSD 390 million and we need to see with the Government of Serbia and the City how much money can be set aside, whether the project should be scaled down to the level of what can be set aside for us. This is a city stadium, so we expect this to be solved – said the head of the club.

The tender, however, has only been announced now, and in the meantime, the reconstruction project was completed, so the public had the opportunity to see what the reconstructed stadium would look like.

The reconstruction encompasses a whole new organization of the western stand with a media sector, which has been missing so far. Also, the forming of the club’s museum will connect the VIP part and the media sector. The whole new organization of the VIP part will allow, for the first time, for the forming of premium sky boxes for corporate purpose, as well as two levels of central lodges. With these features, the stadium will definitely have the best hospitality system in the country.

– The reconstruction of the stadium is the intermediary step in the efforts to have Novi Sad get a whole new, modern stadium, exclusively for football, without a running track – they said in November at DBA Architects, which prepared the project. They added that the preparation of the project of the new stadium was in progress.

If you remember, the new Karadjordje stadium was announced in 2019. The new stadium complex will have a capacity of up to 17,500 seats, an attractive business tower and a semi-dug-in garage.
