Construction of EUR 7 million factory of concrete sleepers in Kosjeric - Inter-kop and Italy's Margaritelli sign contract
Kosjeric will in the future be famous not only for the cement production, but also for high-quality concrete sleepers for high-speed rail. Italy's Margaritelli and Sabac-based Inter-kop yesterday signed an agreement on the construction of such factory worth EUR 7 million.
Construction of a railway sleeper factory in Kosjeric should be finished by the year' end. The factory's annual capacity in the first phase of production will amount to 150,000 sleepers, and it will employ 60 workers for start. This factory of concrete railway sleepers is expected to be put in operation in early 2012.
The equipment will be provided by Margaritelli, construction of facilities and infrastructure is entrusted to the company Inter-kop, while the municipality of Kosjeric has allotted a 2-hectare land for the project.
Margaritelli from Perugia is the leading Italian factory of concrete railway sleepers.
The estimates are that the production of concrete sleepers will grow by about 50 percent, on the global level, within next 15 years.
