Various modalities for improving the business cooperation between the two countries, among other things, the symposium on improving the economic relations, which the Economic Research Foundation of Turkey plans to organize in Belgrade this year, were the topics of the meeting between the minister of economy of Serbia, Slobodan Cvetkovic, the ambassador of Turkey to Serbia, Hami Aksoy, and the president of the Economic Research Foundation of Turkey, professor Ahmet Incekara, PhD.

– The economic relations between Serbia and Turkey are good, but there is the possibility of further development and improvement in several areas. What’s encouraging are the data on the external trade between Serbia and Turkey. In 2023, the external goods trade with Turkey recorded a growth of 27.7% compared to 2022, and it amounted to EUR 2.28 billion – said Cvetkovic, as announced on the ministry’s website.

Aksoy pointed to the constant growth of the investments of Turkish companies in Serbia, especially emphasizing the growing interest in investments in the energy sector and in the participation in big projects in Serbia, such as EXPO 2027 and the “Leap into the Future” project.

Incekara said that, after the successfully organized symposium in 2015, the Economic Research Foundation of Turkey planned to organize a one-day science symposium in Belgrade in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

Cvetkovic welcomed the initiative for the organization of the science symposium as a good opportunity for connecting the business people of both countries, especially in the context of future projects, which, considering their total estimated value, would attract numerous investors and business partners from the whole region and various industries.
