Vesic: Section from Pakovrace to Pozega to Be Completed by October, Construction of Highway to Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina to Follow

The section of the Milos Veliki highway from Pakovrace to Pozega should open to traffic in October this year, announced the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic.

– I have visited the site where the construction works are done on the Munjino Brdo tunnel, which was the most complicated one for building due to the very complex geology, rock structure and underground waters. There were days when the contractors advanced only 0.8 meters a day. Now we have pushed through that rock and the contractors are working in three shifts on four impact points at a rate of 5 meters a day, and very soon they will be pushing through up to 10 meters each day – Vesic wrote on his official Facebook account.

The length of the left tunnel tube in the Munjino Brdo tunnel is 2,755.68 meters, and the right tube is 2,740.14 meters long. According to Vesic, it remains to excavate 545.5 meters in the left tube and 526.76 meters in the right one.

– At the same time, the secondary final timberwork is being done in the tunnel and it is 72.3% finished – the minister said.

He pointed out that, upon the completion of the final section of the Milos Veliki highway from Pakovrace to Pozega, the construction of the highway to Montenegro to Duga POljana would start in the first phase, as well as the first section of the Pozega-Kotroman highway to Susica.
