Company Geo SaFe to Explore Potential of Geothermal Waters in Kula

The president of the Municipality of Kula, Damjan Miljanic, signed the memorandum of cooperation with the director of the company Geo SaFe from Belgrade, Milan Marinovic. The plan is for the company to analyze the situation in Kula and prepare a feasibility study, that is, to explore geothermal waters and the possibilities of their use, the local self-government announced.

According to the president of the municipality, the memorandum is the first step, and if it turns out that there is an economic feasibility for the financing of the job, one of the next steps is a full investment.

The director of Geo SaFe pointed out that Kula had great geothermal potential, and that, in the coming period, the collecting of geothermal data and the analysis of the existing state would follow.

– In the past year, we have signed several cooperation agreements and, logically, Kula is now on the agenda due to the great geothermal potential. The memorandum we signed today is the first step that should lead to doing an analysis of the current situation in Kula and a feasibility study for the establishment of a heating system and an industrial zone. Our intention is to make Kula and Vrbas as a single project, and the idea is to use the existing boreholes that Kula has, because they are in a technically better condition than those in Vrbas. We expect the arrival of a French delegation in July and we will certainly come to Kula again and that should be the beginning of the work on the preparation of the feasibility study. In the meantime, we will collect geothermal data from the municipality, NIS and Geozavod in Belgrade – he said.
