Plan for Vozd Karadjordje Road Published – Route 163 km Long with Three Tunnels, 130 Bridges and 21 Interchanges Planned

The Spatial and Urban Planning Agency of Serbia has announced the public inspection of the draft spatial plan of the special-purpose area of the infrastructural corridor of the state road Vozd Karadjordje. This plan envisages a route of 163.75 km with three tunnels and over 130 bridges. Also, 21 interchanges are planned on the route.

The road, according to the document, has to be built so that it has two physically separated driving lanes, with two traffic lanes for each driving lane, whereby each traffic lane has to be at least 3.5 meters wide and each driving line has to have a special niche/lane 3.5 meters wide and 30 meters long for the emergency stopping of the vehicles periodically at every 2 kilometers along the route. Other elements of the road (the radius of curvature, the gradient, the shoulders and so on) should enable a speed up to 100 km/h.

The border of the spatial plan is located in parts of the territories of Lajkovac, Lazarevac, Arandjelovac, Topola, Raca, Lapovo, Velika Plana, Mladenovac, Sopot, Smederevska Palanka, Ljig, Batocina and Kragujevac.

The planned route encompasses several traffic directions comprising a single cross-shaped system stretching in the north-south and east-west directions, with a total length of 163.75 km.

In addition to that, two additional lateral routes of a lower grade are planned, with a total length of 20.71 km, as well as several linking routes to the existing road network. The central point and crossing place of the several routes is the “Orasac” interchange near Orasac and Arandjelovac.

The drafting authority is the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia. The expert planner is the Institute for Architecture and Urban Planning of Serbia from Belgrade, in cooperation with the designers of the preliminary design: Hidroprojekat-saobracaj doo, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering at the University of Belgrade, DB Inzenjering DOO and the Geodetic Affairs Agency Geo Team Future. The investor in the preparation of the Spatial Plan and the Preliminary Design is the PE Corridors of Serbia.

The public inspection lasts until April 16.
