Gebi New Owner of Former Mill Giant Fidelinka – Investments and Entry into Wheat Flour and Dough Retail Market Planned

Gebi from Cantavir has bought out the trademark, mills, silos and dough factory of the former mill giant Fidelinka from Subotica. As the company, which is primarily active in the production of animal feed and agri-cooperation, told RTV, they plan to modernize these facilities and reconquer the flour and dough market under the “Fidelinka 1868” brand.

The silos in Aleksandrovo, a suburb of Subotica, used to be synonymous with quality and the security of the grains handed over by agriculturists from Subotica, and not just Subotica.

And in the neighboring building, grains were ground and dough was made that was essential to numerous housewives. That’s the way it was until the bankruptcy proceedings, which Fidelinka entered nearly a decade and a half ago, when some of its parts continued working, more or less successfully, through lease. With the sale of its parts and its trademark, the bankruptcy proceedings were, for all intents and purposes, finalized nearly two years ago, and recently, Gebi from Cantavir took over the silos, the mill and the dough factory.

– This year will be dedicated to renewing and modernizing the silo park itself, which is the basis of this entire business. With the modernization of this silo park, we will become private owners of over 600,000 tons of storage capacity for grains and oil plants, which is a serious quantity, not just for Serbia, but for the region as well. After making the silo park operational, which will take us this whole year, the next step will be to renew and modernize the mill part, to be followed by the dough factory. So, that’s within those five years – the manager of Gebi, Atila Andras Djuricin, says for RTV.

Within that deadline, the new owner plans to enter the wheat flour and dough retail market.

– At this moment, that long tradition of Subotica mills and Fidelinka itself combines with the modern tradition of industrial operations represented by Gebi. Combining these two, so to say, quality traditions, can only create quality Fidelinka products – he adds.

They believe that they will realize all the plans for Fidelinka even before the set deadline.
