The financing of the construction is secured from the budget of the Republic of Serbia.
– This is a big thing, for both Kragujevac and Sumadija and the entire Serbia. Primarily, it will be important for the expansion of the capacities of the clinical center itself. So, more beds. We are getting 335 new beds, of which 270 with the possibility of semi-intensive care and 65 for intensive care. The clinical center will get an expansion of the operation unit by an additional six modern operating rooms and a hybrid room, with modern diagnostics and nuclear medicine. The most modern equipment will be installed, new procedures will be implemented, and that will mean a lot for the return of young people. This also means new employments of my colleagues, doctors, and then also scientists, medical nurses and technicians – says minister Grujicic.
When asked what the new building should have that the existing Clinical Center doesn’t, the minister reveals that, in the second phase, the reconstruction and extension of the current Emergency Center is planned, which will be turned into a polyclinic, as well as the completion of the technical-economic facility with an oncology department.
– The preparation of the project-technical documentation for these projects as well is currently in progress. There’s also a plan to build a new children’s clinic and a physiatry department. In addition to all that, an aboveground outdoor garage with around 300 parking spaces will be built. What’s important to emphasize for both the colleagues and the patients is that, with this, we will expand the operating unit, and a hybrid room with the potential for cardio surgery will be built as well. This expansion will contribute to the introduction of new procedures in intervention cardiology – the minister says and adds:
– It is especially important that the new emergency center will be built in line with the most modern standards. So, there will be no fixes and adjustments, but a whole new state-of-the-art emergency center. Also, an inpatient clinic for patients with two-bed rooms and a bathroom.
Prof. Dr. Slobodan Milisavljevic, the director of the University Clinical Center of Kragujevac, said for the Blic daily that the new building would spread on 25,000 square meters and that it would be located next to the existing one.
