Public transport info displays, which show the data about the vehicle arrival times and their distance, will be installed in another 4,000 locations.

As said on the Facebook page of the City of Belgrade, following the installation of 1,000 info displays in December 2023, in the upcoming period, the city will get another 4,000 info displays, which will be installed throughout the city, as well as in the most remote settlements in the suburban municipalities.

These info displays were put into operation at numerous public transport stops in Belgrade at the end of 2023. Those info displays, when they were installed and put into operation, were characterized by the president of the Temporary Organ of the City of Belgrade, Aleksandar Sapic, as “a historic event, revolution and trademark” which will give precise information about the vehicles the users are waiting for.

However, since these displays were installed in numerous locations in the city, it has turned out that this is not always the case. In the past months, citizens have often pointed out that the displays, much like the application providing information about the public transport, which was launched slightly earlier, do not always provide accurate data, that is, that it often happens that they inform that the vehicle is to arrive in one minute, and then it doesn’t for around ten minutes, or that the displays say that the vehicle is to arrive in several minutes, following which the information disappears from the display.

In addition to this, regular users of public transport says that, since the displays were put into operation, they show how irregular the public transport is on many lines and to what extent certain departures are skipped. It is no wonder, then, especially on weekends, that a display shows that the first vehicle on a certain line is to arrive in 25 minutes, instead of 10 to 15, which is what the regular interval is supposed to be for that line. This is especially apparent on parts of the routes served by only one line.

Info displays at the stops, which will keep getting installed in the coming period as well, are a new thing, but this way of informing the citizens is nothing new. In the past years, there were tables showing the information about vehicle arrivals not at all stops, but on all the most important ones.
