The works on the construction of the Kuzmin-Sremska Raca highway section are progressing. This section has a remarkable geostrategic importance, because it connects the capitals of the Republic of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and realizes a connection with the Pan-European Corridors.

Along with the 18 kilometers of the highway, a new bridge on the river Sava has been built (1,310 meters), and works on another eight smaller bridges, 11 culverts, five overpasses and two big interchanges – Bosut and Kuzmin, where the connection to this part of the highway will be located, are being carried out.

Parallel with the works on the highway, the designing of the joint border crossing between Serbia and Republika Srpska is in progress. The plan is to put it into operation in 2025, when the works on the road section to Bijeljina, financed by the Government of Serbia, are completed.

The completion of the works on the section from Kuzmin to Sremska Raca is expected by the end of this year, and the expectations for the continuation of the highway to Bijeljina are similar, whereas the full exploitation of this highway of geostrategic importance, which will connect Belgrade and Sarajevo, will depend on the intensity of the works in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the moment, works are being done on three fast routes which will connect Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are Sremska Raca-Kuzmin, which is part of the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway, the Ruma-Sabac-Loznica fast route, which will have a connection with Bosnia and Herzegovina and a leg toward Badovinci, as well as the Pozega-Kotroman road, which will enable a connection toward Visegrad.
