Customs Administration presents innovations in transit procedure

Slobodan Tomic, the coordinator of joint affairs at the Sector for Customs Procedures, presented the new application platform (NAP) and emphasized its importance for accelerating the customs declaration process and reducing the need for the direct contact between customs officials and importers/exporters.
– This platform, which relies on semi-automation and is a step toward the implementation of the AIS/AES system, brings a range of benefits, such as a reduction of costs, a more efficient customs declaration procedure and the possibility of preparation for a full automation – he said.
Also, he pointed out that the implementation of Phase 5 of the NCTS had begun on January 28, 2024, and that, in the previous period, a range of seminars had been organized to the end of preparing the business community for the upcoming changes.
Slobodan Ilic, the head of the Group for the Transit Procedure in the Sector for Customs Procedures, presented the innovations in the transit procedure, which included an upgraded transit system, that is, NCTS Phase 5. He explained in more detail the structures of the entry and exit summary declarations and the EORI number. Alo, he pointed out to the attendees the roles of customs outposts, which included the exit customs outposts for transit and the registration of incidents.
Ivanka Jovetic, the coordinator of joint affairs at the Sector for Financial, Investment and Legal Affairs, presented the amendments to the decree on the customs procedures and customs formalities which were implemented in practice. She also explained the kinds and forms of security in the customs procedure, as well as types of guarantees, general conditions for giving approval, the manners and deadlines for the discharge of a security.
After the working part, while having breakfast and networking, the attendees had the opportunity to discuss and exchange the experiences in this field. The even was organized by the Slovenian Business Club, the CANSEE (Canadian-Serbian Business Association) and the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
