Trend of digital farms arriving to Serbia as well – Opportunity to be armchair online farmer

How many times have you hear somebody say: “If only I had somewhere to grow pigs, sheep, cows… so that I know what I’m eating, so that I can provide my children with homegrown products!”? Soon, everybody will have the opportunity to do something precisely like that, even those living in city centers. The “Moje stado” (“My herd”) platform will soon start working, and with it, everybody can become an online farmer, reports AgroTV.

The mastermind behind this project is Miodrag Mitrovic. These kinds of farms are nothing new in Europe, but they are still a curiosity in Serbia and in the Balkans in general.

– “Moje stado” is an online farm which enables natural persons to buy and fatten their own pig, for example, anywhere in the territory of Serbia at agricultural properties, while paying for the service in monthly installments – he explains and adds that credit ability is not necessary in this process.

The number and the size of the installments are set by an algorithm which calculates them based on the number of feeding days and food consumption.

– If you have bought a pig of 20 kilograms and want to fatten it to 120 kilograms, the algorithm recognizes the difference and calculates the feeding days and food consumption, how many months it takes to reach those 120 kilograms and, based on that, the installment as well – he explains.

The platform itself provides the possibility of agreements between legal and natural persons and guaranteed funds for the sold head of livestock, as well as the services of fattening every month.

Within the platform, there is also an online market where agricultural properties offer their products – dried meat products, dairy products, fruit, vegetables or eggs.

In addition to purchase and classic fattening, the fattening of organic head of livestock will be possible as well. Rabbits and all kinds of poultry will be available as well.

– The platform enables transport in line with the HACCP standard, the platform has a passport for each head of livestock and will be available to every consumer for insight. There is the possibility of insuring a head of livestock, and the premium shows the quality of the agricultural property where they are grown, because, the lower the premium, the better the agricultural property, so we will be able to rank them based on that – explains Mitrovic.

If a natural person does not settle their obligations, the platform stops the fattening for them and delivers the current weight, so nobody is damaged.
