Wholesale market Belgrade, the largest distributor of fruits and vegetables in the region
The wholesale market, as the largest supplier of a large consumer center, has a key influence on the quality and final price of perishable products, which are of crucial importance for the supply of millions of consumers.
As the largest distribution of fruits and vegetables, it covers an area of 18.5 ha, of which 7 ha is the plateau for the sale of fruits and vegetables from trucks. 7,500 m² is occupied by business and storage space in the form of premises, offices and warehouses. In previous years, a parking terminal for cargo trucks was opened and 10 assembly facilities/premises were built. A hall on 10,400 m² was built, a parking lot for heavy trucks on an area of 34,000 m² was paved and the accompanying infrastructure. An access road with entrance-exit ramps has been built.
Wholesale market Beograd primarily provides services for renting places on the plateau from which fruit and vegetables are sold from trucks, renting assembly facilities, warehouses and warehouse space, as well as renting premises and offices.
As specified by the Law on Trade, goods can be sold at the Belgrade Wholesales market by persons who have the status of a trader. Registered agricultural holdings and legal entities, i.e. entrepreneurs who carry out trade, have the status of traders.
The Wholesale market (Veletržnica) Belgrade is visited by about 2,000 customers per day. The wholesaler supplies a market with over 3 million inhabitants, while the seller at this location sells from 2 to 1,000 tons of goods, depending on his own production.
For the last few years, Veletržnica Belgrade has been a member of the World Association of Wholesale Markets (WUWM). This influential organization based in France is made up of over 200 members from all over the world.
The goal of Wholesales market Belgrade is to improve the efficiency in the trade of goods and quality, encourage the development of agricultural production, encourage the export of competitive agricultural products from our area and, by achieving influence in foreign trade exchange, meet the needs of the multi-million dollar market.
The majority of producers in Serbia are not able to sell their products to large retail chains, so it is necessary for as many producers as possible to join together at the municipal level and come out together with an offer at the Wholesale Market.
- The sale of fruit and vegetables at the Wholesales market is still mostly carried out from trucks on an open plateau where the weather conditions are often unfavorable. With the construction of the first hall in 2018 on 10,400 m², the demand for free capacity was not met. Most of the capacities have been leased, so the Wholesales market is in dire need of expansion - said Aleksandar Eror, director of the Belgrade Wholesales market.
With its so-called "premium" location next to the highway, only 5 km from the Nikola Tesla airport, in the immediate vicinity of the port of Belgrade and the international railway station, the Wholesales market has direct access to the market of Belgrade and the region, as well as direct access to domestic and foreign traders/customers.
