Union Šped: The leader in the storage of hazardous materials according to the highest standards

The complexity of building and putting into operation a hazardous materials warehouse is reflected in the complex requirements that the warehouse must meet. Due to such complex requirements and the desire of the company to satisfy all the demands of the stakeholders, the start of construction of the facility was postponed several times. Union Šped`s hazardous materials warehouse complies with the latest "Regulations on technical standards for fire and explosion safety of plants and facilities for flammable combustible liquids and on coordination and transfer of flammable and combustible liquids of the Republic of Serbia", adopted at the end of 2017.

In a technical sense, the facility meets all prescribed standards for the storage of hazardous materials. The building is resistant to fire for 120 minutes, special collectors and filters were built in the event of an incident, the electrical installation was done in an ex version, special sensors for measuring gas vapors were installed, an underground fire extinguishing tank of 160,000 liters was built with a water flow of 21l per second and all the other equipment required by law is installed.

The reception, storage, manipulation and shipment of goods is carried out in accordance with all applicable regulations of the Republic of Serbia and the highest European standards for the storage of all classes of hazardous materials except for class 1 (explosive materials), as well as with the applicable standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and to the requirements of the AEO (Authorized Economic Entity). Union Šped d.o.o. also employs licensed advisors for the transportation and handling of hazardous materials, which gives additional security and reliability to this part of the business.

The hazardous materials warehouse is located in the new logistics center of Union Šped, in Dobanovci, near Belgrade and the intersection of the E-70 and E-75 roads. Within the logistics center of Union Šped, in addition to the hazardous materials warehouse, there is also an ambient warehouse, as well as a warehouse with a temperature regime for the storage and manipulation of medicines and medical devices, as well as a warehouse for food of animal origin that does not require a temperature regime.
