The signing of the free trade agreement between Serbia and Egypt has been announced for July or August by the prime minister of Serbia, Milos Vucevic.

– We are opening the market of the biggest Mediterranean state, which opens a serious space for cooperation – Vucevic said at the session of the Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia on the 2023 activities report.

As he said, Egypt is an import-“hungry” country when it comes to various types of goods, and Serbia has a good legacy from the past period when it comes to cooperation with that country.

– They see us as a country from the era of the Non-Aligned Movement, as a European state which has no colonial history and has no aspirations toward jeopardizing their independence – said Vucevic.

He believes that Serbia should change its point of view when it comes to Asia and Africa and see them as “serious” markets.

– Asia and Africa are not far, and all the serious geopolitical players have been present on the African continent for a long time now, because they can see that it’s a continent of the future – said Vucevic.

He added that the representatives of Serbia had had a talk with international representatives that day about the activation of the CEFTA and pointed out that the biggest problem was created by the authorities from Pristina, by blocking goods from central Serbia from arriving to Kosovo and Metohija.

He said that there had been progress in the implementation of that agreement.

– We are perhaps a step closer to having goods from central Serbia being able to reach the area of Kosovo and Metohija – said Vucevic.

He added that regional cooperation was a huge advantage of Serbia and that it had been recognized as dominant in that regard.
