The two new direct flights a week which are to be launched on July 11 by Sundor, a subsidiary of the Israeli national airline carrier El Al, between the Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and the Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade, are being commenced at the best moment possible, in the season of annual leaves, and will be important for both the tourism season and business people, it was pointed out at the meeting with the representatives of said airline company at the Embassy of Serbia in Tel Aviv.

According to the data of the Association for Tourism of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS), in the period which preceded the covid pandemic, as many as 13 direct weekly flights were operated by Air Serbia and the Israeli airline companies Arkia and Israir.

In 2018, Israeli tourists were at the very top in the capital city, with 27,000 visitors and slightly over 100,000 overnight stays.

The two new flights a week, which are added to the two existing ones of Arkia, are of great importance for business people as well, especially considering both the significant Israeli business community in Belgrade and the increase in the trade between the two countries, as well as the Israeli investments in Serbia, it is said on the CCIS website.

Yael Kalif, the deputy CCO, and Maya Ashkenazy, the head of the marketing department of Sundor, expressed their expectations that Belgrade would be one of the most in-demand destinations for tourists from Tel Aviv in the summer of 2024. As the Belgrade “city brake” offer is very popular in Israel, special interest has been expressed in the tourism offer of Serbia’s nature highlights, both on the Tara-Uvac stretch and on Kopaonik and in the Podunavlje area, it is added.

Ambassador Miroljub Petrovic and Aleksandar Nikolic, the director of the CCIS Office in Jerusalem and the honorary consul of Serbia in Israel, pointed to the possibilities of an even more efficient connecting of all the tourism workers, cooperation with trade union associations from Israel and the preparation of Israeli sports clubs in Serbia. With the inclusion of certified guides for the Hebrew language, the presentation of the Sephardic legacy of Belgrade would be additionally improved.

The flights on the Ben Gurion Airport-Nikola Tesla Airport route will be available on Sundays and Thursdays, throughout the year, as planned.
