In the space of the former meat industry giant “29. Novembar”, the ElevenEs factory was raised. LFP batteries, produced without nickel and cobalt, are the future of green energy. They offer a trifold advantage: higher sustainability, increased safety and lower costs.
Nemanja Mikac, the project leader and the CEO of ElevenEs, says for Dnevnik that this is the pilot phase of the production, where they are sending samples to various producers of cars, buses and trucks.
– Our batteries are also used for wind farms and solar parks – clarifies Mikac.
Currently, 110 people from 21 countries work at the factory, which proves the global character of this endeavor.
– This know-how does not exist in Serbia, it doesn’t exist in Europe either. We have employees from India, Turkey, China and various parts of Europe – points out Mikac.
The plans for the future are ambitious.
– Our next step is a mega-factory whose construction is to start at the end of this year. The idea is to have the mega-factory operational as soon as next year, and it would be the first mega-factory of its type in these areas – announces Mikac.
The long-term plans are even more impressive.
– We have bigger plans for later – three giga-factories, where the total footprint of all those factories would be several billion euros, and over 20,000 people in total would be employed – reveals Mikac.

– A mega-factory entails 1,000 megawatt-hours. That’s the quantity of the batteries which will be produced. We will employ around 200 new people, and the investment is worth EUR 80 million – said Nemanja Mikac.
The production is fully export-oriented, primarily for the markets of the EU and America. The batteries are used in electric cars, excavators, buses, trucks and stationary systems for energy storage.
Although it is too soon to talk about concrete results due to the confidentiality agreement, Mikac mentions the positive user feedback.
– Since there is a confidentiality agreement, it is tricky to talk about user feedback, and to cite the president, “the feedback is very good.” That is, we have positive results and the battery is working and now the details are being calibrated so that it would be ready for the mega-factory, that is, serial production – he said.
