This fall, the National Bank plans to limit interest rates on housing, cash and consumer loans

The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), Jorgovanka Tabakovic, said on Wednesday that regulations are being prepared on limiting interest rates on housing, consumer and cash loans, as well as on permitted and unauthorized minuses on citizens' current accounts.

Attending the session of the Assembly of Serbia, she said that the organization of interest will be provided for by the proposed amendments to the Law on the Protection of Users of Financial Services, which will be submitted to the Parliament for the autumn session.

As she announced, the public debate on the amendments to that law will begin soon.

- I hereby announce that, starting this fall, we will see a new bill, with amendments to the Law on the Protection of Users of Financial Services, through which we will try to limit the interest rates on housing loans, to limit the interest rates on permissible and impermissible minuses, but also on consumer and cash loans. It is a joint effort of the government, the president and the National Bank of Serbia - said Tabakovic.
