The Post of Serbia and the Hungarian Post have signed an agreement which will improve the cooperation between the two national post services in the field of cross-border package delivery. The acting director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Andjelkovic, signed the agreement with the deputy CEO of the Hungarian Post, Viktor Kohuth, in Kelebija, near the Serbian-Hungarian border.

Andjelkovic said that the Post of Serbia was the most important distributor of deliveries within the online trade in the country and that it had recorded a big jump in all package and post-express services in the preceding month and a half. He emphasized that, for the users, the cooperation meant a quicker, simpler and cheaper delivery of the ordered goods, whereas the network of the Post’s parcel machines would grow from 500 to 1,000 parcel machines meant for deliveries by the end of the year.

Kohuth emphasized that the Post of Serbia was a very important partner to the Hungarian Post.

– We promise that there will be no problems on our part, and all further questions will be agreed with the Serbian side. We hope to have opportunities for more new agreements in the future – he said.

The two post services, according to this agreement, are becoming the authorized operators for the mutual reception and delivery of cross-border packages, with the aim of improving the quality of the services and accelerating the delivery process. The agreement also envisages a mutual compensation of delivery costs, a mutual recognition as preferred providers of delivery services and a continuous support and inciting of services of high quality.

The operating procedures within the agreement will be harmonized with the Convention of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which will ensure the highest standards in the provision of postal services. The agreement comes into effect immediately and is signed for an indefinite period of time. The cooperation is expected to considerably improve the efficiency of the delivery transfer, especially in electronic trade, which will additionally strengthen the trade connections of Serbia and Hungary.
