International council for olive oil ready to support development of olives growing in SCG

Minister for international economic relations of SCG, Predrag Ivanovic, had on April, 18th, 2006 a meeting with executive director of the International council for olive oil (IOOS), Habib Esid about the support of this organization to development of olives growing in SCG.

Ivanovic introduced his guest with project which should be realized in the next 2 years in Montenegro's areas of olives growing. It is a matter of projects regarding production of seeding material, completing and equipping of laboratories for examinating the quality of olive oil, as well as for the biological production of olives.

Esid promised he would do anything in his power so the International council for olive oil, which is prepairing a three years program of work and a budget for 2007, includes in that all the projects from SCG as well.

According to some evaluations, in Montenegro there are around 500.000 of olive trees, and the plan is to increase that number to a million.
