The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met with the CEO of Philip Morris International, Jacek Olczak, in New York, with whom he talked about the operations of that company in Serbia, as well as new investments, the ecological initiative and innovations in industry.

– Last year, we marked 20 years from the privatization of Duvanska Industrija Nis, when the Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between this company and the Government of Serbia. For us, such foreign investments are of crucial importance for the development of the economy and they additionally fortify the position of our country as an important partner in the field of innovations and modern technologies – wrote Vucic.

Philip Morris is planning a new investment of EUR 100 million in the factory in Nis.

With this investment, as announced earlier, the factory in Nis, which has only produced traditional cigarettes so far, will also launch the production of a new line of smokeless tobacco products, which will be meant for export. Thanks to the new investment, around 200 new jobs will be created. With this investment, the total investments of Philip Morris in the operations in Serbia will exceed USD 1 billion, the press release says.
