The Municipality of Bosilegrad has opened the tender for the procurement of equipment for the Kobos factory in that place, and the value has been estimated at RSD 19.2 million.

The tender envisages the procurement of new and unused equipment for sewing and its assembly.

According to the documentation, to the end of improving and enlarging industrial production, the Municipality of Bosilegrad intends to launch production in the textile industry, that is, the Kobos factory in Bosilegrad, which has not been operational for over twenty years, that is, there has not been any industrial production there.

– To that end, the municipality of Bosilegrad has found understanding from the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the donor EUPRO Plus, which, with their financial participation, support the achievement of the set goal – it is said.

The launching of production in the Kobos factory in Bosilegrad is to be done in three phases. The first entails finding an interested producer which will train workers, initiate the production and place the product.

The second phase, which is in progress, envisages the reconstruction and repair of the existing building of the Kobos factory, and the third phase, which is the subject of this public procurement procedure, entails the procurement of machines and sewing equipment.

The deadline for application for the tender is October 21, and more details (in Serbian) can be found HERE.

Let us remind that, in 2017, after a year of operations, the Bulgarian textile company Kalinel abandoned the announced investment of EUR 2 million in Bosilegrad. It stopped the production, took the machines away and let go 104 workers. According to the agreement signed in October 2016, the Bulgarian company got subsidies of EUR 750,000 to create 250 jobs. They didn’t use that money, the Ministry of Economy said at the time, but pointed out it was a shame that people hadn’t been employed.
