Merger of Alpha Bank, Eurobank EFG - New bank's capital estimated at EUR 146 billion

Greece's Alpha Bank and Eurobank EFG have merged, thus increasing the resulting new bank's capital to EUR 146 billion, Head of International Activities at Eurobank EFG Group Giorgio Pradelli said last night in Belgrade.

At a meeting of businessmen from Serbia and Greece, which was held at Hyatt hotel, Pradelli said that the new bank, a result of the fusion of the two Greek banks, would be among the strongest in the eurozone and the second strongest bank in the Serbian market.
