Dusek (World Economic Forum): Big technological progress is good news for Serbia, we are entering a new economic era

Mirek Dusek, Managing Director at the World Economic Forum, said for RTS that Serbia was coping with all the global economy challenges and that it was good news that big technological progress had been recorded. He estimated that the world would probably enter a new economic era.

– We believe that economies worldwide are being changed not just by artificial intelligence, but also quantum technology, progress in health and energy technologies, and we are seeing an exponential growth. But we have to do it responsibly and in a way that opens new sources of growth and productivity. Also, it is important for all those changes to be accompanied by a timely and flexible legislature. In that sense, Serbia is doing well – said Dusek.

He added that a great awakening had happened worldwide regarding the power of artificial intelligence as a whole and the power of advanced technologies.

When asked how he saw Serbia at that moment, he pointed out that the big technological progress was good news.

– But, to be honest, the global economy is still pretty fragile, it has not yet fully recovered from the covid-induced shock, and we have a new economic geography with certain industrial policies and other measures. Serbia is also coping with all those challenges. I believe that the experience that Serbia has in opening different markets, both in bioeconomy and, for example, the high-tech sector, is very important. Serbia is known for the very promising high-tech sector with innovative companies. To sum it up, I would say that it is very important to have different economic partnerships, and Serbia is well positioned to do so – claims Mirek Dusek.
