After Goran Vesic recently resigned from the position of minister of construction transport and infrastructure, Tomislav Momirovic has now resigned from his ministerial position as well, it has been confirmed to RTS.

– I notify You that I am resigning from the position of minister of domestic and foreign trade. I am grateful to the president of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, on his trust and the medal awarded. For him and for Serbia, I am always here – says Tomislav Momirovic in a written resignation that he submitted to the prime minister of Serbia, Milos Vucevic, and it has been confirmed for RTS that the resignation has arrived to the cabinet of prime minister Vucevic.

Until now, Momirovic performed the function of minister of domestic and foreign trade, but let us remind that, previously, from 2020 until the autumn of 2022, during the peak construction period, completion of the construction and the opening of the fast railroad from Belgrade to Novi Sad, he was minister of construction, transport and infrastructure. During that time, let us remind, one of the phases of the development of the station and station building in Novi Sad, from which the canopy collapsed on November 1, killing 15 people, was taking place.

It could be surmised that there would be new resignations due to the tragedy at the Novi Sad Rail Station today following last night’s address of president Aleksandar Vucic, who hinted at it, without specifying the sector or the company he referred to. However, following Vucic’s announcement, it was expected for it to be Momirovic, as this was his field of responsibility until only two years ago. Let us remind that the construction of the fast railroad started during the ministerial mandate of Zorana Mihajlovic, when Ana Brnabic, the current president of the National Assembly, was prime minister.
