The international transport and logistics company cargo-partner attaches great importance to environmental responsibility and sustainability. Due to this extraordinary engagement the company won the Energy Globe Austria Award 2011 in the category Air.
- The Energy Globe Award is the worldwide most significant and famous environmental prize and awards projects from all over the world which use saving and gentle resources as well as regenerative energies. The aim is to present those projects to a broad public because there are already a lot of good and implementable solutions to environmental problems. Annually, about 1,000 worldwide projects and initiatives apply for the award, which is given away in categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Youth - reads a release issued by the company cargo-partner.
The innovation package of cargo-partner ranges from fuel saving trainings for employees, a new building equipment and an increased utilization of transports to a shifting from air to sea cargo. Due to the improvement of the transports 19,113 tons of CO2 emission could be saved per year. This equals 2,742 millions liter of diesel fuel and 3.5 millions liter of ship-oil, in total minus 6.2 millions liter of fuel per year.
The support of an aviation research group was as well one of the main reasons to gain the victory. The students’ group is involved in the development of a so-called Blended Wing Body-configuration. This innovative aircraft design will save estimated 25 % of fuel once finished.
