General manager of cement factory "Novi Popovac" Darko Križan resigned
General manager of the cement factory "Novi Popovac", Darko Križan, asked to be dismissed from the post starting from May 22, 2006. The Administrative Board of company "Holcim Srbija" appointed former financial manager Gustav Navar for the general manager.
Since the Regional Court in Belgrade has not yet started the criminal procedure against Križan and other persons, in regard to the privatization of the cement factory "Novi Popovac", and since the final decision on the complaint filed by "Holcim" on the solution about commencement of the investigation has not been made yet, the announcement says that "the present situation of uncertainty is unacceptable on a long-term basis either for accused persons, or company "Holcim Srbija".
Therefore, Križan asked to be dismissed from his former duty, so that all the details related to him and his company could be cleared and the conflict of interests, between him as an individual and the position he has in company "Holcim Srbija", avoided.
On April 4, 2006, the judge of the Regional Court in Belgrade started the investigation against Nemanja Kolesar, former head of the cabinet of late Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić, and the manager of factory "Novi Popovac", Darko Križan, who were accused of accepting bribe during the privatization process in that cement factory.
