Italian representatives reiterated their country’s absolute readiness to continue supporting the European integration of Serbia.
Ciric visited Rome at the invitation of Minister Passera and attended the session of the Serbia-Italy business council, at which he presented Serbia as an investment destination.
For years Italy has been among the most important partners of Serbia in political, economic and strategic sense, the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia reminded shortly before the visit.
Italy ranked second in the world in total exports to Serbia in 2011, and it was the third largest importer from our country last year.
Italy is also one of the largest investors in Serbia, ranking among the top six, since it has so far invested about EUR 800 million in our country, where about 400 Italian firms, banks and insurance companies operate and employ over 20,000 workers.
So far, not one Italian company or bank has withdrawn from the Serbian market.
