NCR center opens in Belgrade - Jobs for 300 people
The U.S. company NCR opened Wednesday in Belgrade an operational and information center, worth a total of EUR 3.8 million, which will employ about 300 highly educated people from Serbia.
Under the Program of Grants for Encouraging Investment, the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia awarded EUR 1.5 million to NCR for new jobs, it was said at the opening ceremony.
As it was stressed, NCR is a global technology leader in providing high quality and expert support to companies in finance, tourism, hospitality, telecommunications, entertainment, gaming, telecommunications and public sectors in over 100 countries. NCR Europe Vice President Jeff McCroskey was the one to open the operational center in Belgrade.
McCroskey pointed out that NCR had chosen Serbia as a place to do business in because of the skilled workforce speaking foreign languages, excellent infrastructure and the support they had received from the Serbian government.
- I am impressed with Serbia, which is a hidden jewel in the business world, and it simply delighted me in the business sense. I will continue to share that feeling with my colleagues - he said and thanked to the Serbian government, the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) and the Ministry of Economy and the U.S. Embassy for their support to the investment implementation.
The NCR center currently employs 200 people.
- We plan to hire additional 100 workers until 2014 - Richard Matton, one of the directors at NCR Corporation, told eKapija.
The total value of this investment is EUR 3.8 million. The center has state-of-the-arts equiment and technology for providing high-tech services to European companies engaged in banking, commerce, telecommunications and tourism.
NCR is a large global company that exists for 120 years, operates in more than 100 countries worldwide and has an annual turnover of USD 5.4 billion.
Highly-trained staff will support the performance of both NCR's engineers working all around Europe and NCR's internal European IT Language Center, using a specialized software for such services.
This center will be providing support in the following nine languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Spanish and Turkish, while some additionaly languages may be added later.
The opening ceremony of the Belgrade-based NCR center was also attended by Serbian President Boris Tadic.
