InScientiaFides stem cell biobank opens branch office in Serbia
InScientiaFides stem cell biobank from San Marino has opened a branch office in Serbia, at 3a Uzun Mirkova in Belgrade. By opening its office ISF Sirmia, the biobank InScientiaFides has made it possible for future parents in Serbia to store stem cells from their baby's umbilical cord blood for the period of 30 years.
InScientiaFides is a private biobank that operates in line with the EU directives and quality standards ISO, GMP and FACT (the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy) and offers top-quality stem cell handling services, such as transport, processing and cryopreservation of adult/mature stem cells, while focusing on stem cells from cord blood.
InScientiaFides also participates in scientific researches by analyzing and studying adult stem cells in cooperation with the Tissue Bank of San Camillo Forlanini hospital in Rome.
Stem cells are collected from umbilical cord blood immediately after the birth. This process takes few minutes and is completely pain free for both mother and baby. After that, the blood is sent to a laboratory for processing and cryopreservation (deep freezing) at the temperature of -170/-180°C. Thanks to its highly qualified staff and contemporary technology, InScientiaFides is able to assist parents each step of the way, from the moment a sample is taken throughout the sample storage period of 30 years. Stem cells are biological cells found in all multicellular organisms, that can divide and differentiate into diverse specialized cell types and can self-renew to produce more stem cells. Their regenerative ability make them suitable for curing or helping the treatment of a variety of leukemias, metabolic diseases and anemias.
