Pirot, MGB Investment to build eco-settlement on Stara Planina mountain

The municipality of Pirot has made a decision, at the initiative of MGB Investment, to design a master plan for the construction of an eco-settlement on Stara Planina mountain.

This settlement will be built on a 2.5 hectare lot in the village of Zaskovica, in the vicinity of Jabucko Ravniste, on the Pirot side of the mountain.

- The idea is to build first accommodation facilities on the part of the mountain that belongs to the municipality of Pirot - Andrej Mancic, director of the Public Town Planning Company Pirot, which is hired to design the master plan, told eKapija.

- MGB investment will build an eco-settlement comprising about ten facilities and a central building spanning 50 to 100 square meters. Facilities will be built of natural biodegradable materials that can be found on Stara Planina, but the exact contents and accommodation capacity of the complex have not been determined yet.

As Mancic pointed out, work on the master plan should be finished until the year's end, and it will run parallel to the drawing of plans for the settlement.

All works will be financed through public private partnership between the municipality of Pirot and Belgrade-based MGB Investment, and an agreement should be signed within the next 30 days, said Mancic. The exact amount of the investment has not been determined yet.

This eco-settlement will be located 500-700 meters away from the newly built hotel Stara Planina, at the height of 1,400-1,500 meters above the sea level. Since aforementioned complex at Jabucko Ravniste is situated on the Knjazevac side of Stara Planina, the eco-settlement will be the first tourist investment on the Pirot side of the mountain, and it will be intended for tourists who want to have a rest in accordance with environmental principles.
