Italy's Danieli invests EUR 500 million in construction of steelworks in Sabac?
Italy's Danieli is interested in investing up to EUR 500 million in the production of special steel profiles in the Industrial Zone in Sabac, people at the Serbian government told Politika daily. That it one of the results of the Italy-Serbia Summit, which was held last week in Belgrade.
This company is among the top three in the world in the production of metallurgy equipment and is also one of the global leaders in the production of special steel profiles. It owns six production plants in Europe and Asia, and its interest in investing in Serbia grew bigger few months ago, when Serbian President Boris Tadic visited Italy.
- They have an intention to invest in the construction of one of the world's most modern steel mills in Sabac. It is a big investment that will directly employ 1,000 people, while another 1,000 workers will get a job indirectly. They plan to export two thirds of the production in Serbia. That investment would be of great importance for us because, aside from significantly increasing the production, exports and employment rate, it would also attract buyers, thus enabling new investments in the metallurgy sector - Politika cites a source from the Serbian government.
A letter of intent is expected to be signed within the next thirty days.
