(from the agreement signing ceremony)
The City of Smederevo and the consortium Porr – Millenium Team signed Wednesday (18 July 2012) an agreement to carry out work on the rehabilitation, closing and recultivation of the municipal landfill Godominsko Polje in Smederevo, a job worth RSD 240 million.
The agreement was signed by Smederevo Mayor Dr. Jasna Avramovic and Boban Velickovic, representative of the consortium Porr – Millenium Team.
- Rehabilitation, closing and recultivation of the current landfill in Godominsko Polje is one of the vital priorities of the local government because that would solve a years-long problem of the city and contribute to a greater environment protection and the protection of the old riverbed of the Jezava river in particular. Smederevo is one step away from entering into a strategic partnership, and once we establish a good system with the recultivation and construction of a new landfill, Smederevo will systematically solve the problem of trash collecting and disposal - the mayor pointed out.
She added that that would also solve the problem of small landfills, stressing that all rural local communities would be included in the new trash disposal system.
Dr. Ivan Stevanovic, member of the City Council who has participated in this project from the very beginning, announced that another landfill - Dugo Polje in Radinac, would be recultivated by the year's end, adding that the Ministry had provided RSD 24 million for the main design.
