Agreement reached on necessity of cleaning of the Big Bačka Canal, total value of works estimated to about 50m EUR
The representatives of the Provincial authorities in Vojvodina, company "Vode Vojvodine", endangered municipalities and the biggest polluters of the Big Bacča Canal met today and agreed on the beginning of the action of cleaning of that, according to many indexes, the most polluted water current in Europe.
Presenting the Action plan of that voluminous and very expensive work, of which total value is estimated to about 50m EUR, the manager of "Vode Vojvodine", Branislav Radanović, pointed out that, with the joint engagement of all interested parties in the country and with the certain help from abroad, that urgent ecological problem could be solved in 5 or 6 years.
He said that "Vode Vojvodine" would ask from Vrbas-based "Carnex" and "Vital", the sugar refinery in that town and the one in Crvenka, tannery "Eterna" in Kula, Srbobran-based "Elan" and other polluters of the canal to accept the Action plan, so that the protocol on assignment of concrete obligations could be signed.
