Serbian sky will be opened for European "low-cost" airliners starting September
- European airliners, which transport passengers at cheap prices, could be present in Serbia starting from September 2006 - said Dragoljub Trgovčević, acting general director of civil aviation in Serbia.
According to his words, during the forthcoming Autumn, the application of the agreement on joint European sky could start, which would enable free access to market to the airliners.
Trgovčević pointed out that the Directorate had signed agreement with EU on June 29, 2006, on establishment of joint European aviation area, which should be ratified by the Parliament of Serbia in Autumn 2006.
He said that the agreement could endanger Serbian companies that were not ready for the competition, adding that the introduction of European anti-monopoly regulations, which forbid that the country owns or finances airline companies, was necessary for application of that agreement.
