Agreement is reached - City of Belgrade and Government of Serbia to finance reconstruction of the Pančevo bridge

Following the announcement of the Minister of Capital Investments, Velimir Ilić, that the Pančevo bridge is in the phase of decay, the Mayor of Belgrade, Nenad Bogdanović, said that the City of Belgrade was ready to take part in the financing of project for reconstruction of the Pančevo bridge.

Bogdanović stated that the city was ready to take part in the financing of the reconstruction of other bridges and roads on the territory of Belgrade.

- We are ready to participate in the reconstruction of Gazela and we would provide half of the money needed for reconstruction of the Smederevo road - said Bogdanović.

The Head of the sector for bridges in Public Company "Putevi Srbije", Dragan Milošević, recently announced that the general three-year reconstruction of the Pančevo bridge would start in 2007. He pointed oput that the exact scope of the works would be known after the thorough checkup of the bridge, as well as that their value was estimated to about 30m EUR.

In addition, Milošević pointed out that the elaboration of the main project for rehabilitation of "Gazela" was in progress and that the commencement of the works should be expected on April 1, 2007. According to the first estimates, the reconstruction of "Gazela" will, also, cost about 30m EUR.
